In brief

A little about us

We are a small assembly of believers in Bayan Lepas, gathering simply around the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no clergy here and no programme to perform, just Christians meeting in His name to remember Him, to pray, and to hear His Word. Whoever you are, you are welcome among us.

Christ at the centre

We meet in the name of the Lord Jesus, and no other name. Remembering Him is what our Sundays are built around.

Rooted in Scripture

The Bible is what we go by. We read it together, teach it plainly, and try to run the assembly the way it says.

A family together

Several generations, sharing meals and burdens and prayers. Church here doesn't stop when Sunday morning does.

About us

Who we are

Sungai Ara Gospel Hall is a company of Christians meeting in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Like other Gospel Halls, we try to gather the way the early believers did: simply, without denominational machinery or paid ministry. Life here is fairly ordinary. We break bread every Lord's Day, pray together on Wednesdays, teach the children, and look after each other through whatever comes.

What we hold to

  • WorshipEvery Lord's Day we gather around the Lord's table. Nobody runs the meeting from the front. Brothers give out a hymn, a prayer, or a word from Scripture as the Lord leads them.
  • The WordScripture is our authority, and we'd rather work through it book by book than chase whatever's popular. God still speaks through His own Word.
  • PrayerWednesday nights we pray. For the assembly, for those who are ill, for our families, for the gospel to go out. Anyone can pray, and we don't rush it.
  • FamilyThere's no clergy here, and no audience either. Everyone has a part, from the children in Sunday School to the oldest among us.
  • The GospelWe tell people plainly about Jesus, our neighbours and our own children alike. Salvation is by grace, through faith in Him, and nothing else.
